Green Velvet Chair Loving..... The perfect fit for my open plan area
*Sponsored post in collaboration with Sofadotcom
As I’m sure you know, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, velvet has made a big comeback in interiors over the last couple of years. It’s such a luxurious, tactile fabric and so many of us are bringing it into our homes in both furniture and accessories. I wrote a blog post on velvet sofas and how I chose mine when I bought it earlier this year and since then I’ve been also wishing for a velvet chair to sit opposite it.
When sofa.com got in touch and asked if I’d like to work with them on an interiors campaign and choose a piece of furniture, I immmediatly popped over to their website to check they offered velvet fabrics for their armchairs….. And luckily for me they most certainly do! There is a fabulous collection of colours to choose from. For ease on their site when you pick the fabric you’d like they list it in colours, so you can compare tones of the colour you want rather than having to trawl through all those you don’t- Great idea eh!
Even though my velvet sofa is petrol blue I thought I would like the chair to be green. It sits next to a wallpaper with natural, green and blue tones and I knew a green chair would look great here. I don’t like things to match up necessarily in my home but as this is an open plan area that leads through to the kitchen I did want a cohesive flow between the rooms. Initially when buying my velvet sofa in January I had thought I would get a green one as I knew it would fit perfectly into my home- I have a lot of plants and natural textures and it was the obvious choice, but in the end I decided to pick out the blue tones in the wallpaper so just to be on the safe side, I chose some blue and green velvet samples this time too.
When I saw the Olive Matt Velvet sample I knew straight away that this was the one, the tones worked beautifully with the others in the room and with those of my petrol blue sofa opposite.
Now I just had to choose the style of chair, well I have to be honest that was an easy decision as the Hendrick Armchair just jumped out to me straight away. It was exactly the sort of thing I’d been looking for, it is a scandi style with a gorgeous exposed wooden frame, it was almost like it had been made for my home!
The next thing was to decide on the colour of the wooden frame, I chose ‘English Oak’ which I thought would sit beautifully next to the olive green velvet and the other exposed wood throughout the downstairs of my home.
So, it looks great but of course what you want to know is, is it comfortable too? The answer to that is yes it most certainly is! Sofa.com chair and sofa cushions are stuffed with white duck feathers, which in turn are wrapped around a piece of top quality foam. They say ‘The feathers give that lovely feathery feeling and the foam also feels good, but more importantly “returns” when you stand up, and reduces plumping time. The result is a really comfy cushion that you don’t have to keep on plumping.’
Also, if you have allergies or are vegan and don’t want the feather pads sofa.com can change them for hypoallergenic ones instead as all their furniture is handmade, you just let them know when ordering…..
I have to say I couldn’t be more pleased with both the quality and style of the chair, it really does sit perfectly in this area of my home….. The next task of course was to style it up. I decided to try three different looks before making a final decision….
I have recently installed a plant rail in this area and as I’ve said many times before I do love natural textures in the home so the first thing I did was add one of my rust coloured sheepies to the arm of the chair.
I also have a thing about brass and gold at the moment and have used gold pots for the hanging plants in this area. I popped a brass side table and brushed gold vase next to the chair giving a modern rustic look, I have to say I love it and think it works so well with the natural textures and colours here…. I do like to mix metals though so the dark copper mirror will be staying.
Lastly I added a floral printed cushion with green and brown tones, this usually sits on the sofa opposite. I love the final look but think I’d like the same style cushion but with a bit of colour contrast….. I’m now on the lookout for the right one!
I’m so pleased with all aspects of my Hendrick Armchair and I have to say sofa.com will be right up there on my list when it comes to changing the corner sofa in my sitting room next year, having seen the quality of their products, thats for sure!
What do you think of my chair here? I hope you like the style and colour I picked too…..
Thanks as always for taking the time to read my blog post….. This will be the last one until the new year so I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy new year- Let’s hope 2019 is a great one for us all!
Sharon xx
