Stars..... They're not just for Christmas!
Its the time of year where stars are everywhere, but, just like puppies they're not just for Christmas......
Ahhh I love a 'Star' in my home, no I'm not talking anyone famous ( Though I wouldn't say no to Aiden Turner popping by ) I'm talking tin stars, wooden stars, star prints, star cushions...... pretty much anything star related really. I seem to be drawn to them whenever I pop into an interiors shop and obviously this time of year is a star lovers dream, with Christmas approaching they're everywhere. My aim is to buy ones that I can dress up for Christmas, then keep on display all year round.
So, where to get your star fix I hear you say? Well lets have a look at the ones in my home, and of course, some I wish were in my home!
If you're looking for a 'star' bargain, garden centres are a great place for the post Christmas sales, I picked up these copper star cushions in a local garden centre sale a couple of years ago, they were a steal at Β£5 each, people always ask me where they're from but Ive never seen them anywhere since!
Another place I often find lovely bits for the home is The National Trust shop, they often have some great pieces that you don't find on the high street, Ive popped this soy two wick candle on my Christmas list after spotting it in my local shop. As an added bonus its made right here in Sussex by Parkminster.co.uk, Ive had one of their gorgeous candles before but this one has my name all over it as you get to reuse the handmade star ceramic bowl once the candle is finished.
My Kitchen seems to be full of stars! I love this white metal star from Rockett St George, it's lived all over the house, on the wall or leaning against the wall it just looks great! At present it is sat propped up against the brick wall behind my range cooker...... I still haven't decided on tiles to go here after two years of having the kitchen in, but I do love the metal star here so maybe this is its forever home.
It's also available in black if white's not your thing. The black one is now on my bathroom accessory wishlist to go on the wall above the bath.....
The concrete star on my kitchen shelves I bought in b&q last year, I went in for a piece of 9mm plywood and left with a star and a couple of plants, that seems to be a habit of mine!
At the other end of my kitchen, after spotting them on their instagram page, I recently bought these wooden stars from fleurandgrey.co.uk . They add just the rustic touch I was looking for..... and will look gorgeous decorated for Christmas too......
The tile inside the fireplace from Wallsandfloors.co.uk has a beautiful black and white star pattern, I'm considering making a larger hearth with them as I really love them ...... Another job to add to the list!
If you thought beetles, gold and stars don't mix just look at these Beetlegeuse Star Prints from The Curious Department aren't they just beautiful..... I chose the Gold/Black one to go above the fireplace, but they are also available in Gold/White. If you haven't looked on their site you are seriously missing out! The Curious Departmentβs passion is to take the under appreciated aesthetics found in nature, and transform them into unexpected mesmerising objects of beauty, and everything is handmade in the UK too ......
These led Starburst Lights, shown here in the most beautiful outside room of Dee Campling are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, they'll look fabulous for Christmas but certainly a beautiful year round addition to the home too.
This December, Dee, together with The Big Bloom Room are collaborating to bring to you a rare Christmas shopping opportunity 'The Big Blooming Christmas' within the beautiful location of Montpellier, Cheltenham. A unique collection of high quality retailers have been selected to curate a 'pop-up', offering workshops, handmade gifts, luxury candles, and 'festive faux', wreaths, garlands, home accessories, festive fashion, Christmas hampers and sheepskins. These starburst lights will be available to purchase in both Large Β£30.00 and Small Β£20.00.
Here are some other great star products on my wishlist that are certainly not just for Christmas!
And to finish off, I found a little 'star' tipple..... When you've finished it just pop a candle in the top and go out and buy another - Cheers!
If anyone knows of a fabulous star embossed Gin bottle do let me know!
