Fairy Lights.... Let's keep them up all year!

For those of you that follow me on Instagram you will know that I do love a string of lights in my home, I love the interest they can add to a corner and the way they add bit of bling and brighten up any area of a room. At this time of year, after seeing so many beautiful fairy lights online, in the shops and in the homes of friends, I always wonder to myself why they don't just keep them up after Christmas? Let's face it, January is gloomy enough, surely we shouldn't be taking down lights and packing them away for the next eleven months?
So, when Festive Lights asked me to team up with them and talk about why we should keep fairy lights up throughout the year, I knew this was right up my street!
I'm going to show you 4 corners of my home where I keep various strings of fairy lights up all year round.......
1/ Micro fairy lights on the kitchen shelves
These Silver micro LED fairy lights incorporate a discreet silver wire design, they are battery operated and due to the wire can be twisted and turned in any way you like and will retain their shape until you want to make a change, perfect for twisting along shelves...... The 1.9m length of 20 lights is perfect for my kitchen shelves and as they're battery operated I don't have to worry about any wires hanging down either, and they're only £3.49 to boot!
I really love the subtlety of the small micro lights and the thin wire, they highlight all the bits and pieces I love on my kitchen shelves perfectly. I originally put them up for Christmas but am definitely keeping them up all year round now!
2/ Metal lantern fairy lights in my daughter's bedroom
Surely everyone loves fairy lights in a bedroom- right? My daughter has had the same plain fairy lights on the end of her bed since she was small, she wanted something a bit more interesting and up to date, these rose gold metal lantern lights were perfect! With 10 lanterns on each string, on a transparent cable, they are perfect for the end of her bed, the warm white LEDs give a soft glow through the rose gold cage and really do look so pretty.
If any of you have children like mine who seem incapable of turning off lights in the house (if I had a pound for every time!!) these lights come with an on/off switch and a handy timer function. The timer will keep the lights illuminated for 6 hours and then turn them off for 18 hours, before switching back on at the same time as the previous day; meaning you don’t have to worry about remembering to switch the lights off! How cool is that! It also means I won't be single handedly keeping battery companies in business this year.......
3/ Festoon lights in the corner of the Kitchen
Ahhh I do love my festoon lights, these have been up all year round since I bought them a couple of years ago from Festive Lights...... I initially bought some to hang outside but loved them so much I wanted some inside too!
These Plug in Festoon Lights With 20 Warm White LEDs can be used indoors or outdoors, you can get them multi coloured and white but I've got them in warm white as I think the warmer light looks nicer against the cool grey walls of my kitchen. I also like the fact that they do not have glass bulbs, something that certainly makes sense in this house I can tell you!
4/ Glass dome with wire fairy lights next to the sofa
I was originally sent this ombre glass dome with wire lights from Festive Lights to take photos of it for their Christmas catalogue, I absolutely love the ombre effect on the cloche glass dome and it fits perfectly in my home, it's certainly not getting packed away in the Christmas box thats for sure! Because the light is battery operated you can put it anywhere, which is pretty handy in this house as every available powerpoint seems to contain a charger of some description! The light also has a timer that means the fairy lights come on automatically every evening, at this time of year when it's all dark and gloomy at 4 o'clock I absolutely love coming home to the twinkle of lights in the corner of the room.
So, there you have it four lots of lights I'll be keeping up all year round...... I hope it's inspired you to do the same, or maybe find new places to put them? Do let me know in the comments if you have any other fab fairy lights tips and ideas.
You can also post your fairy light photos on Instagram using the festive lights hashtag #theshowmustglowon ...... Let's be on a mission to fight those January blues with twinkling lights!
